LoveLetters - Issue 17
Recap of May 2019
Welcome to LoveLetters, a monthly roundup of upcoming events, inspiring ideas and products we love. Our goal is to produce an issue of our newsletter towards the end of each month that will provide an overview of what we've been up to at LovEd and what we're loving lately. OUR COMMERCIAL SHOOT
Over the memorial Day weekend, we had a great time shooting a commercial for our upcoming live event series for Singles, My (Secret) Dating Game.
The ad campaign is appropriately titled, "Taking Off The Mask" because it reflects the intention of our revolutionary event.
Producing this commercial required a team of talented and generous individuals pulling together and we could not be more proud of everyone who worked so hard to make it a huge success!
We have such gratitude for everyone who participated but wanted to give special thanks to Dave Steckel of Sound City Studios for donating the sound stage - we couldn’t have done it without you!
For a sneak peek of the LovEd team on set, we posted a video below:

BE THE 5 Segment:
LovEd's Clarity Program teaches us how to be a level 5 on the Emotional Maturity (EM) Scale. Each month, we feature someone who has inspired us with their high level of EM, meaning they've chosen not to take things personally, respond reactively or approach the situation in a way that contributes to the problem.
This month, we're featuring author, speaker and podcast host Nora McInerny. If you’re familiar with Nora, it’s likely because you’ve found yourself in dire straits or having lost a loved one in the past few years. That’s because Nora is one of the largest advocates right now for speaking out about grief. In 2014, Nora suffered a miscarriage, the loss of her father, and the loss of her late husband Aaron (to brain cancer) - all within the span of a few weeks.
And so Nora was faced with all these losses at once, while also being a single mom to a toddler. She has since written three books, founded a non-profit organization, and hosts a podcast that deals with the most difficult thing that’s happened to the guests she interviews.
Nora has written three books in the five years since losing her husband (and father, and suffering a miscarriage). Each of her books touches on grief, widowhood and loss, but they do so in a way that’s real, authentic and honest.
Her first book “It’s Okay to Laugh (Crying is Cool Too)” became a National Bestseller and even received praise from Mandy Moore. Her second book, “The Hot Young Widows Club” is considered a roadmap and resource for grief and human struggles. Nora’s latest book, “No Happy Endings” is about moving forward from tragic loss, and discovering that despite the harrowing grief, there’s still room for new beginnings.
Nora has founded a non-profit organization called “Still Kickin” that offers grants to people going through really tough times. She sells merchandise (including tshirts, like the original one that helped sparked the idea), and she also hosts events where donations are raised so that people can be helped when they need it the most.
Nora hosts the podcast “Terrible, Thanks for Asking” where she interviews people who want to share their story about the worst thing that ‘s happened to them. Whether that’s losing a loved one or a child, suffering a chronic illness or dealing with sexual abuse, this space allows people to talk about what happened to them and share their experiences and feelings. Nora is enigmatic and entertaining to listen to, despite the at-times quite difficult conversation topic.
Nora also has the above Ted Talk that you must watch right now - believe us, you won’t regret it. But if you can’t take the time to watch it at this very moment, please bookmark it and save it for later, and read the article written about Nora on Ted Ideas called “The Messy, Complicated Truth About Grief.”
Thank you, NORA MCINERNY, for being the 5 and SPEAKING UP ABOUT SOMETHING THAT MOST OF US ARE AFRAID TO TALK ABOUT.
